I am happy to announce the initial release of VicEditor Standard Edition.
This is a cut down version of VicEditor; the Professional Editor for RTF, TXT, HTML and PHP.

I don't mean to sound like the police here, but the link sends us to a page where we must register to download the file. If you could make it so we could download the file without registering, that would be appreciated.
Thank you. <!-- s --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt="" title="Smile" /><!-- s -->
The pro version, which will also be free but will require registration to get it, is way better and looks nicer. Has the full Visual WYSIWYG etc and a few extra features.

Basically, if people who want to use the software need support/post a bug or whatever, they would need to register just like you do here if you need to post. It stops most of the spam bots.
Also, since it is free, I would like people to take just a few seconds out of their time and register to get it. It also shows me how many people are interested. At the moment it has only been downloaded 6 time LOL.
Ah, well I have to say that what you are doing is a very good marketing technique! Good work!!
Also, I would like to thank you for choosing BP Forums to spread the word of your new piece of Software. I am really excited to see where you go with it.
Does it have an automatic updater implemented into it?
Why thank you. Means a lot. Not one to blow my own trumpet but for someone who only first looked at Visual Basic etc about 3 weeks ago, I think I'm doing alright. <!-- shock: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_eek.gif" alt="hock:" title="Shocked" /><!-- shock: -->
I haven't got an auto updater on it. But it is something I would love to have.
What I have implemented into the Pro version is a "Check Version" tab, where when clicked it will show the version installed and will say something like "Up To Date" and when a new version is available it will show "Updates Are Available." where the new build is called from a text file online. Easy way around it but it works. But would love to have a system in place where a MsgBox appears "A new update is available. Click Ok to Upgrade" or something.
I am almost finished the WYSIWYG now and will be ready then for Beta. <!-- s --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt="" title="Smile" /><!-- s -->
Oh wow! Well good work on the updater!! I don't know if you've seen my plugin, UpdateVB, it makes the whole updating process really easy. <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=70owuWzc158">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=70owuWzc158</a><!-- m --> Here is a video on how to use it!
Hey nice little updater. Loving it. Will implement it (with full credit of course.) <!-- s --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt="" title="Smile" /><!-- s -->
Brandon, I didn't add the updater yet, as I want to get everything working correctly first and would rather use your updater on a production release rather than a beta, if that's okay? <!-- s --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt="" title="Smile" /><!-- s -->
Unfortunately the Beta is only available to registered members at viceditor.com
Thanks. <!-- s --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt="" title="Smile" /><!-- s -->
And regarding the updater... It is no problem that you won't use it for now, it is your choice whether or not you want to use it, so feel free to use it whenever you want, and refrain whenever you want.
