  Is there a " dumb question " here
Posted by: Duckman - 03-15-2011, 09:57 PM - Forum: VB.NET (Visual Basic 2010/2008) - Replies (2)

I have a friend that is coding pretty heavily in VB 6, should he branch out, and upgrade to the newer, or stick to what he knows and actually finish a program?

  New project: Renamer
Posted by: LearningVB2010 - 03-13-2011, 06:59 AM - Forum: Programming Help - Replies (1)

Hey people,
I'm starting a new project: Renamer.
You can just rename all your file names in one click and a bunch of other crappy stuff.
My father is a pro in "Progress" language, maybe you know
and he made a lot of cool stuff. But now his program is in his language and we want to "translate" it. <!-- s:lol: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif" alt=":lol:" title="Laughing" /><!-- s:lol: -->
So get ready for all my questions!

1. I'am working on a file overview: select a directory and show all the file names of it in an other listbox.

2. remove/add something on all names ( band, album - etc) and an counter so it automaticly has 01, 02, 03.

this are my questions for now <!-- sBig Grin --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" title="Very Happy" /><!-- sBig Grin -->

Don't let you head explode !

Hey there!

How do you change the skin of the windows form simply (Like Brandon's Timer 9)? If there is a answer that would be appreciated! <!-- sBig Grin --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" title="Very Happy" /><!-- sBig Grin -->

  What's up with all the spam?! New rule!
Posted by: brandonio21 - 02-26-2011, 09:51 AM - Forum: VB.NET (Visual Basic 2010/2008) - Replies (3)

Hey guys,
If you haven't noticed, this forum has recently been riddled with tons of spam. Whether it's spam bots or actual people, I disapprove.
To attack against this spam, I have made a new rule, where if you are newly registered, you must reply to a topic 4 times in order to create your own. This prevents spammers from immediately being able to post their own topic.
This should really help out the forum!

  Working with Regex
Posted by: xolara - 02-24-2011, 05:08 PM - Forum: VB.NET (Visual Basic 2010/2008) - Replies (2)

Hey ive been working on how to make a "lng" file for your application and ive kinda succeded

Here is the code play with it as much as you want <!-- sSmile --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt="Smile" title="Smile" /><!-- sSmile -->
(IMPORTS)

Code:
Imports System.Text.RegularExpressions

(Textbox1.textchanged) (Hide it if you feel like it, it will still do its job <!-- sSmile --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt="Smile" title="Smile" /><!-- sSmile --> )

Code:
Private Sub TextBox1_TextChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles TextBox1.TextChanged
        Dim content As String = Replace(TextBox1.Text, Global.Microsoft.VisualBasic.ChrW(10), Nothing)
        Dim regex As New Regex("<language.*ButtonSend=""Name"".*ButtonName="".*""")
        Dim rbutton2 As New Regex("<language.*ButtonClear=""Name"".*ButtonName="".*""")
        '(Set.*buttonsend=""
        For Each m As Match In regex.Matches(content)
            Try
                Dim ButtonSend As String = m.Value.Split("""").GetValue(3)
                Dim ButtonClear As String = m.Value.Split("""").GetValue(7)
                Button1.Text = ButtonSend
                Button2.Text = ButtonClear
            Catch ex As Exception

            End Try

        Next
    End Sub

(Read config or lang file) I would set mine to Form load but you can allso make them able to change it so it will reload on a button or something
Code:
Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load
        TextBox1.Text = My.Computer.FileSystem.ReadAllText(My.Application.Info.DirectoryPath + "\Config.cfg")
    End Sub

[EDIT]
Download link to EXE to check it out and see that it is working fine <!-- sSmile --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt="Smile" title="Smile" /><!-- sSmile -->
