New to the forum - saige45 - 07-05-2012

Hi all,

I just wanted to pop in here and introduce myself. I unwittingly stumbled upon Brandon's youtube channel while searching for a method. As such, I have watched many of Brandon's videos.

Hey Brandon, I hope you don't mind my popping in. I also wanted to give you a heads up that I had recoreded a new version of your VB.NET implementation and converted into C# for a posted comment inquiring about it.

I hope it was alright, not trying to step on any toe's. Just trying to pay it forward if you know what I mean. <!-- sSmile --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt="Smile" title="Smile" /><!-- sSmile -->

Hey Saige,

First off, welcome to the forum! I hope that you enjoy your stay and that you are able to contribute to not only your own learning experience, but others' as well.

It's no problem that you recorded your own version of a tutorial, when it's uploaded, share the link! I would love to watch it!

We're glad to have you!

Hey Brandon,

Thanks for your quick response.

Here is a link to the video.

And as you stated, it's all about learning. A quote that I sometimes use:

“The illiterate of the twenty-first century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn and relearn.” Alvin Toffler

That is a fantastic quote. I love it.

As far as the video goes, you did a fantastic job! I recorded that 30 day trial video quite some time ago, and I actually did a really poor job in constructing the code. I have learned since then.

You did something in this video that I almost never do, and I think that I should start doing it often. You discussed where and why this certain implementation would fail, and that is a very important discussion when people are trying to learn code.

Thank you for your kind words. I will be the first to admit that I do not know everything.

I agree with you in regards to explaining the pro's and con's. Ultimately it will lead to a far greater learning experience for not only yourself but the viewer as well. <!-- sWink --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_wink.gif" alt="Wink" title="Wink" /><!-- sWink -->

Re: New to the forum - brandonio21 - 07-06-2012

Very nice! I have used all of those languages except ASP. Of course, I'm not fluent in any of them except maybe VB.NET. I used to be pretty good at PHP, but without practice, I have forgotten a lot of things! Well that's great! Hopefully you can contribute a lot to this forum, and hopefully it can contribute a lot to you!
